OUR STORY
From the happy birthday 'pal' message, to the slightly too public, very drunk first kiss, our story wasn't exactly the quintessential fairy tale…
Despite both growing up in Cambridgeshire and attending rival schools, our paths didn’t cross until years later in London. We first met in 2018 at a triathlon event, formally shook hands, and somehow ended up talking to each other all evening at a group dinner a few weeks later.
From there, things escalated (very slowly!) with countless runs together, daily texting, and a very committed ‘we’re just friends’ phase that fooled absolutely no one. Of course, many people invited to the wedding had to patiently endure the saga of our so-called ‘friendship’ for the twelve months it took us to finally get there with a very drunken snog.
Since then, we have travelled the world together, competing in Ironman World Championships and running races side by side (and occasionally against each other). Sport has always been woven into our relationship.
But beyond all the training and travelling, our life together is very much rooted in London. These days, we call Lewisham home, where we recently acquired Albert the Tortoise, drag all visitors to Greenwich, and squeeze an impressive number of social plans into every week (with Katie often wondering why she thought three plans in one evening was a good idea). It’s chaotic, full, and very us.
So it was only fitting that Olivier proposed halfway through the 186km Tour du Mont Blanc, somewhere between a mountain summit, lots of cereal bars and the point of complete physical (and mental) breakdown!
Now, after countless finish lines crossed, we can’t wait to celebrate the next adventure with all of you - one that, thankfully, involves much less lycra and far more champagne.
